West Maui Road Closures For May 4, 2010

UPDATE (5/4/2010, 10:40 am):  The road to West Maui is now open.  For passengers that were affected by the road closure, Island Air will still waive the first time change fee.

We were advised this morning of an active brush fire in the Olowalu area of West Maui.

The following areas of Maui County are affected:

Maui County reports that the road from Maalaea Harbor West to Launiupoko Beach Park is closed to traffic. The road from Lahaina heading west is open to traffic to Waihee but is slow moving. JHM airport is open for business. Passengers traveling out of JHM who are staying on the west side should be able to make their flights. Passengers in the Kihei area will not be able to make into JHM due to the road closure.

No plans on canceling any flights into JHM due to the brush fire.

Any passengers traveling on Island Air out of JHM affected by the road closure should call the Island Air reservations department at 1-800-652-6541. Island Air will waive a one time change fee only.
