Web Check-In
Our Web check-in service, Island Express, saves you travel time by letting you print your boarding passes before you leave home. If you only have carry-on bags you can bypass check-in completely, and with your photo ID you can proceed directly through security to the gate. However, if you do have baggage to check, you will need to stand in line at the check-in counter.
Check-in & Boarding Times
For passengers departing out of Kahului, Kona, or Lihue, check in at least 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. All other passengers are required to check in at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. All passengers must be present at the boarding gate at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. Reservations not claimed 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time are subject to cancellation and passengers may not be eligible for denied boarding compensation when these requirements are not met. Valid photo identification is required for all passengers.
Ticket Counter and Baggage Claim Location Changes
These are the new Ticket Counter and Baggage Claim Locations for the following airports:

Notice – Overbooking of Flights
Airline flights may be overbooked, and there is a slight chance that a seat will not be available on a flight for which a person has a confirmed reservation. If the flight is overbooked, no one will be denied a seat until airline personnel first ask for volunteers willing to give up their reservations in exchange for a payment of the airline’s choosing. If there are not enough volunteers, the airline will deny boarding to other persons in accordance with its boarding priorities. With few exceptions, if a passenger is involuntarily denied boarding he/she is entitled to compensation. However, to receive compensation, a passenger must be checked in at least 60 minutes prior to flight departure and present him/herself for boarding at the boarding gate at least 15 minutes before scheduled departure time. The complete rules for payment compensation and boarding priorities are available at all ticket counters and boarding locations.
Notice
If the passenger’s journey involves an ultimate destination or stop in a country other than the country of departure the Warsaw Convention Treaty may be applicable and in most cases limits the liability of carriers for death or personal injury and in respect of loss of or damage to baggage. See also notice headed “Advice to International Passengers on ‘Limitation of Liability’”.
Responsibility for Departures, Arrivals & Connections
Island Air makes every possible effort to carry passengers, baggage and freight with reasonable dispatch. Schedules are subject to change without notice and do not allow for abnormal air traffic, unscheduled maintenance and ground delays. Island Air is not responsible for damages resulting from failure to depart or make connections and may without notice substitute alternate carriers or aircraft. The fare for carriage is subject to change prior to commencement of carriage. Island Air may refuse transportation if applicable fare has not been paid.
Restricted Items
Hazardous Material
Federal regulations restrict carrying items classified as hazardous materials on aircraft. These materials include, but are not limited to, flammable gases, liquids and solids, non-flammable compressed gas, explosives, poisons, corrosives, oxidizing materials, radioactive materials and magnetic materials.
Federal law prohibits hazardous materials in either checked or carry-on baggage. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Paints
- Lighter Fluid
- Oxygen Bottles
- Fireworks
- Radio Pharmaceuticals
- Pepper Spray
- Mace
- Flammable Gases, Liquids and Solids
- Explosives
- Poisons
- Corrosives
- Oxidizing Materials
- Radioactive Materials
- Magnetic Materials
Violators are subject to stiff fines.
Current regulations prohibit the use of certain portable electronic devices on board commercial aircraft because of the potential for interference with on-board navigation and communication systems. These include:
- Cellular telephones
- AM/FM radios
- Remote-controlled devices
- TVs
- CB
- CD/MP3 players
- Devices capable of transmitting any radio frequencies
