President and Chief Executive Officer
David Uchiyama has more than 37 years of local sales, marketing and branding experience in Hawai‘i’s visitor industry and business community. Prior to his most recent position as vice president of sales and marketing for Hawai‘i Gas, Uchiyama served as vice president of brand management for Hawai‘i Tourism Authority, where he led the industry to five record setting years. He also served for 11 years as regional director of communication for Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Hawai‘i and French Polynesia. He has been a member of or served on committees of various local organizations, including Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce, Hawai‘i Lodging and Tourism Association, and Hawai‘i Bowl Foundation.
Vice President of Administration, Safety and Security
William “Dee” Airman brings an extensive background in safety and security management and global aviation experience to the company. A United States Air Force Academy graduate, Airman served as an Air Force command, instructor and research pilot for 28 years. As a retired Colonel, Airman carried his experience to Northwest Airlines as the manager of flight safety, and he also served as regulatory compliance manager at Emirates Airlines. Most recently he was director of the system operation center at Porter Airlines in Canada where he helped prepare the airline for route expansion.
Vice President of Airports
As vice president of airports and inflight and guest services, Jeff Moken is responsible for overseeing all aspects of customer service. Moken oversees all airport functions, flight attendants and on-board products and the airline’s guest series branch helping with high profile clientele and assisting guests with their travel. Jeff comes to Island Air with twenty-three years of experience in the commercial airline field, and most recently from United/Continental Airlines where he worked as the general manager of airport operations in Honolulu. He has held various hub and corporate management positions for the past 15 years.
Director, Quality Assurance and Inspection
Frank Fenlon is Island Air’s director of quality assurance and inspection. He brings to the company more than 20-years of technical experience with all phases of aircraft repair, systems, and programs. Prior to Island Air, Fenlon worked as the senior systems engineer at US Airways and was part of the gap analysis team for the America West/US Airways merger. He spent six years implementing and managing the maintenance program for all fleets at Hawaiian Airlines. Fenlon grew up in Hawaii and has paddled across the Kaˈiwi channel in the Molokai Hoe, considered the world championship of men's long-distance outrigger canoe racing.
With extensive experience in senior level sales and a proven track record for delivering bottom line results, Susie Fujikawa is the director of sales for Island Air. Prior to joining the company, Susie worked at LivingSocial as a senior account executive in the Escapes Division and was a senior market manager at Travelocity. During her time at Travelocity, Susie achieved multi-million dollar revenue goals and successfully increased the impressions of the Hawaii region on Travelocity.com. Susie’s expertise lies in business acquisition, territory growth, advertising and marketing programs, sales strategy development, competitive analysis, and account management.
Porter Mackenzie is Island Air’s director of maintenance since April 2014. His previous work experience includes having managerial, maintenance supervisor and lead mechanic roles at Mesa Air Group and an aircraft mechanic at Kamaka Air Cargo. In addition to receiving a bachelor’s degree in business management, Mackenzie obtains a FAA Airframe and Powerplant License and Certificate of Achievement from Honolulu Community College Aero Program.
